Random Nature Photos

About time this thread had some more photos. Found my first male Adder at the weekend, also the first Adder I've found since I've had my 100mm macro.

That is impressive, I have a pic of a grass snake, buts nowhere near as nice as that, and adders are pretty rare - I used to see them as a youth but not seen one for over 10 years now, let alone close enough to get a 100mm shot of it !

My first entry. I've just got the camera and I'm starting out. This monster was sunning itself on my first walk out with the camera the other day. I'm trying to get out and get close enough to the birds of prey around here, but a lot of practice required in the meantime.

I've been out hunting nature a bit more recently and in some lovely new places:
Here's the first red squirrel I saw at a feeder....at least I think it was a squirrel:

We were hiking in remote jungle in single file, the point man stepped over this 1.5m snake without seeing it! If he had stepped an inch either way he would have been toast. After I took the pic I tried to move him from the trail but he darted at us and got a bit fangy. Luckily nobody was bitten.

It just amused as that we sat waiting/hoping for red squirrels and the first thing to pop out, quite unexpectedly for a feeder, was a fat rabbit...
