Might be a bit late on the day but do you perhaps sometimes you come across people known to you who have previous form?
For sticking their butt in the way? I don't think so.Grant you that a tripod in a typical narrow aisle may not be a good idea ... but then again nor is a large butt or two no matter how temporary. I suppose one could always take a couple of shots of it as evidence.

Unfortunately guests jumping in the way at critical moments is just one of those things; aisles being generally narrow don't give you scope to reposition and you can't very well shout 'Oi, move it!'. Mind you it's only happened twice so not a major problem in the scheme of things.
So you can't just shout "CUT" and then taser the bd? What is the country coming to? Mr Obertshaw said:
Your welcome to borrow my Jessops cheapo one if you want mate, might be better than nothing.

Be prepared to receive a comment 'have you remembered to put the film in, Haha? ' a few times during the reception (usually by the same person). The best response to this is a slap on their face.
A 70-200mm f2.8 makes a handy cosh, but I've never had that comment, yet.'Excuse me' I said, tapping the bride lightly on the shoulder, 'I'm sorry but I had to dispatch one of your guests. He was simply too annoying'. I pointed across the marquee to the long tables laid out for the evening buffet. Just to the left of the prawn cascade a pair of unmoving legs projected skywards. 'Oh that's all right' she replied. 'It looks like Derek; he's always getting into scrapes'.
Went to the rehearsal last night. Glad I made the decision to borrow a 5D II. Only had my 550d last night and I was up at ISO 3200 - 6400 in the church, which doesn't look great on mine! Vicar was quite cool with things too, just said he's not bothered where I am as long as I'm not using flash and not right up his nose!
Don't drop a lens cap on the stone floor during the service - it will sound like a dustbin lid!
They may have more lights on for the real thing but it won't make much difference. That said, if flash is not allowed, I can usually get by on f2.8 and ISO 800, holding about 1/30th. 1/15th is danger zone as you start to notice subject movement.

Hello from a wet caravan in weymouth ...
Well I done it and it went well .. ish.
Nothing got broken although I did lose my tripod. Recovered though. The wedding organiser was a great help, I told him I was not a pro and he helped throughout the day pointing me to where the pro's go.
It wasn't stressful although I was bicking it in the ceremony as I was told not too much flash. How much is too much?
I have had a quick flick through. Some st, some good. I took 900 all in all up to the first dance and then packed my gear away and got pissed.
A lot of people commented how fun the day was with me being there, because I wasn't pushy and everything was done quite quickly. No me in general, just because it wasn't a pro.
Ill pop a few up when I get home and thanks for the tips everyone and I am so glad I had a flash. Special thanks to Matt.
And no, I definetley do not want to do wedding photography again.

Glad it went well Scott. I thought about this thread again the other day. My friend went to a wedding and the photographer was torn a new one for the entire day. Apparently the bride had a huge family and he missed a couple of people out in major photos and they were moaning at him for getting the order slightly wrong.
I really must avoid wedding photography

An interesting read, albeit too common. My girlfriend went to a wedding on Saturday and they hired (from what I gather) a friend of a friend. Some lady with a DSLR who calls her self a photographer. Sunday afternoon, my girlfriend starts sending me a frenzy of this women's preview shots of the day which I'm pretty confident I could beat using my camera phone and a torch. That's the memories of a big day ruined and the poor bride is now asking anyone who attended to send her their pictures if they don't mind.
Incidentally, in a couple of months the same family have another wedding that I am invited to and are now more vigilant, however still limited on budget and have hinted I should bring my camera and kit to "practice". I'm going to be pissing a lot of people off when they finally out-and-out ask.
OP - we've still not seen your shots!
