I could do with a 24-70mm f/2.8. The new Canon looks good but is too expensive for what it is in my opinion. The old version is good but has gone up in price second hand now the new one is out. The new Tamron with image stablisation sounds great but there are mixed reviews on the build quality and the focusing looks quite slow. Argh!

I have the Sigma (Nikon fit) and love it if that helps?I do have access to the Canon fit version of that Sigma and I'm not a massive fan unfortunately. It's just not sharp enough for me. I also have access to a 24-105 f/4 and that's pretty good, particularly for the money and considering it has IS. It'd just be nice if it was a stop faster and a little sharper.
The trouble is I mainly use primes so I'm disappointed with most zooms. My own fault entirely for expecting too much I think!

Cokin H250A ND Grad Kit and a 77mm adapter ring. About £75 for the lot.
Hot or not?
Seems like a practical way to get started with using filters on the 10-22mm - a lens which, I've found, makes using a CPL a very tricky affair.
Is it a load of old cok(in)?
You could probably get yourself set up with Hitech 100mm for not much more than that,Hot or not?

Lee Foundation Kit, Adaptor Ring and a 3 stop hard edge would be my recommendation as a starter kit.
I went for one of these for messing about with in the winter

Which has turned into this https://triggertrap.com/
Going to mess about with some sound triggers as well as firing some IR lasers at it, hoping also for some lightning at some stage and can see how the light trigger works.

The focal length on the 85mm I'm happy with (I want something a bit wider than the 135) but the AF speed has put me off a bit, that said its a lot of glass to be moving, understandable that its not the quickest.
Because of the AF speed and the weight I much prefer the Canon 85mm f/1.8. The only slight downside I find is the minimum focus distance is a bit too long for tight head shots.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
