I looked at it and was underwhelmed. It's smaller, but it doesn't offer anything else in my eyes. The next action camera I'm looking forward to is the Garmin VIRB XE HD, that's what I think of when I think about moving the game on.

Has it? Looks smaller but not as good as the 4?

It looks pants to me hehe

No removable battery
No 4K
You have to use an app to change settings (which we all know is not GoPros strong point)

Would rather have the full size one smile

Oh well, it would work well for me. The only setting I change on mine is the upside down setting and I don't use 4k, so the smaller size and lack of case are perfect for me.

I bought one of those fakey SJ4000s for my footwork on trackdays to accompany the Hero3+, actually works really well!

Whats the deal with this new Hero+ LCD, is this below the Hero 4 Silver? Is it just an improved Hero+ with LCD, 4 Silver has better specs?

Ended up buying it from John Lewis for £264 with the 2 year warranty.

Next question, buying accessories, I don't mind some of the prices for official stuff, but some of them seem ridiculous. What I don't want to end up with is some cheap crap that breaks causes me to lose my GoPro of my motorbike or mountain bike etc!

Can anyone recommend a decent none genuine manufacturer? Looking for a chest mount, suction cup mount and an extendable pole, ideally one that allows complete pivot at the end like a joystick, rather than just forward and backward like a "selfie stick"

Thanks in advance.

Right, I've been out of the loop and need to get back in it.

I need to get a second action cam to sit along side my 3 black. Is the 4 black still the one to have? When's the 5 due?

Hey Jon, the new camera should probably be out middle of October if history is anything to go by.

Hero 4 Silver is proving to be the best seller, 1080/60 and built-in LCD.

If you need 4k/30 or 1080/120 then go for the Hero 4 Black.

Drop me a message if you need anything.

I've been looking at the video, and it seems like the 3+ black is the smart buy currently as the 4 black doesn't have a quality bump at the resolutions I'll be using (1080p @30/60)

Can you confirm / do you have the 3+ black in stock still?

The added bonus is I've 4 batteries for my 3 black, which I assume WILL work in the 3+ and WON'T work in the 4 black?

Hey Jon, the 3+ Black has been discontinued so we won't be seeing that one again.

However, the Hero 4 Silver is identical spec to the 3+ Black but now has a built-in LCD and Nightlapse feature. It's also better in lowlight.

The Hero 4 Black does have 1080/120 and 4k/30 if that's any use.

Thanks for the information, sadly I think it makes most sense for me to get the 3+ from ebay, as the battery change to the hero 4 is inconvenient.

I'm sure I'll be coming your way for a 5 smile

What sort of battery life are people getting from a Hero 4 Black with the wifi enabled?

I was recording at 1080/80fps with the wifi active from a full charge and battery died in less than 45 mins.

Do most people get things framed up etc using the live preview then turn off wifi?

Thats about right, I did a test earlier in this thread. Very poor for this price point IMO.

Looking for some advice. I have moved one of the go pro cameras in my car and the combo cable has now become a little unsightly and will sit in the airflow so potentially prone to damage. I am therefore looking for a 50-75cm mini usb extension lead to get it out of the way. However, problem is the use of the Usb cable by gopro is non Standard so anything off the shelf won't work apparently - any ideas or anyone know someone who is a dab hand at fiddly electronics?

I have the Wasabi power double pack that came with a charger, works fine for me in my 4 Silver, lasts as long as the original and the dual charger is very handy.
