Why are there so few car photographs?
Discussion
point is that I have seen too many people scramble to spend money on lenses (and too many people straight recommend they do it) when they don't understand the basics of photography...just because you have a better lens, doesn't mean that your pics will become god like...
Cars illustrate the same point, spend money on track instruction or the like and learn how to handle the car before spending mucho ££ on upgrades. A trick suspension or whatever doesn't make you a better driver.
f 5.6 (I struggled but I did eventually find!)

I'm sorry, but the point is what?Cars illustrate the same point, spend money on track instruction or the like and learn how to handle the car before spending mucho ££ on upgrades. A trick suspension or whatever doesn't make you a better driver.

clearly lost on you ?
You asked for aperture at f5 with small DOF? these were both at f5.6 which is smaller aperture than you asked for BUT still illustrated small DOF...
I posted to help the guy and make sure he didn't follow your 'just buy some more expensive lens' response...sure he should do this at some point, and undoubtedly it will improve his photos but NOT if he doesn't understand the principles to start with....what don't you get about that?

Ok, so you managed to find a macro shot with shallow DOF at f/5. (shot with a kit lens, right? ) Go you!You asked for aperture at f5 with small DOF? these were both at f5.6 which is smaller aperture than you asked for BUT still illustrated small DOF...

I hate how argumentative this forum gets... Guy asks for comments and advice, NOBODY ELSE bothers to give him any feedback, I recommend getting FASTER lens (you do realise 50mm f/1.8 can be bought second hand for what, £50?) to blur the background in THOSE PARTICULAR shots since I know that probably there is not much he can do about people being there etc, the photos are okish technically but FASTER lens (see again? not EXPENSIVE!) would definitely make them more appealing and now one keyboard warrior spends 15min blurring the photo in PS (not even the one I was talking about) and another searches through his whole photo collection to prove a point that he can shoot a bug with shallow DOF at f/5.

it was only argumentative because YOU couldn't take someone else's opinion mate, and rose to challenge I hate how argumentative this forum gets...
