The horizon is also off by 1/18th of a degree so it's a no from me. rolleyes

I don't think TD is getting upset by criticism (although perhaps by one that is objectively false). I see this on every photography thread/forum and it invariably comes down to how the criticisms are framed. For example Rottie's:

Not exactly the most tactful way of putting it. However, if he'd said "That is such a beautiful bottom third of a shot with a nice top third, the middle is a little distracting for me otherwise it'd be spot on" or something similar we wouldn't be having this discussion.

+1 'completely ruined' is a bit OTT and not the best kind of language to use when giving crit. I'm off back to random now where it's friendy biggrin

Bloody hell, it's a photograph. Say what you like about it, my life will carry on just the same. I just pointed out that this: "The gravel road to the left, all the gravel where the tarmac ends, all sharp and beautifully distracting." was not quite true, as in the 100% crop. Would I have shot it differently with more time, and different circumstances? Almost certainly. I was lucky to grab the amount of time I did, given this was midway through a roadtrip, not a specifically setup editorial piece...
Is it not something you'd consider sorting in post? Genuine question btw - not trying to be a throbber, just trying to gain an insight into how your job works with stuff like that. I'm guessing it was a case of you chose to leave it like that rather than you didn't spot it, but just had an interest in the cognotive process behind that decision or whether your clients don't allow you that kind of freedom with editing.

Ignoring any thought of personalities for a moment I have to say I rather like the mountain section in the centre but I'm not that keen on the foreground interest. Much too fussy for a landscape. It needs something simpler, in my view, like RobbieKB's box from a few months back.

Still, not bad for what I assume was a Nikon created file.

Got a cheap tripod today (was £45 I paid £10) as I wanted to have a go at some night shots.

Here are my quick results, plan on taking the Mazda across Exmoor on Sunday night for some better photos.

I think I need a bigger light source to go around the car whilst the shutter is open....didn't want to spend too long out there as some people might get the wrong idea of me sat with a tripod on Halloween.

I'd try somewhere a little darker to start with. Battling street lighting can be very difficult.

Yeah it was my first attempt. Exmoor has a whole no light policy so should be pretty dark smile

Engine went pop a few months ago. Sat about for a while doing nothing, sold it as it was a few weeks ago. Enjoying this luxury life style at the moment like.
