The motion blur is less about panning and more due to the fact I was on a moving train at the time.
Lesser snappers would have kept schtum about the train.
Fantastic picture.

Cheers, Whatty.

Thanks Robbie smile It's a three-frame composite so that I could cover all reflections with the CPL, merged in PS and followed by some reflection cleaning on the glass. Then some final darkroom stuff (levels, sharpening, colour correction). About a ten-minute edit all-in though if memory serves so not as complex as it might read.

A lot of making that car 'pop' was in the planning to be honest, positioning the cars, distances, time of day. Considering the time I had and the brief I was given, I was happy with the outcome. Not how I would have done it with full-control but sometimes you can only work with what you've got!
Is it a matte wrap?

I've tried dabbling with composite CPL shots before but can never quite achieve the same effect. My reflection correction skills aren't anywhere near where they should be!

Cracking shot indeed.

It's technically satin-pearl grey paint - fantastic to photograph to be honest, especially at night.

I think the key with the CPL is to take 4/5 frames and stack them, ensuring you get plenty of overlap. Shooting on an overcast day helps even more as any reflections will be even/flat rather than stand out. The satin paint in this case definitely helps though as all you have to worry about is the glass!

It's running about 500bhp at the moment with more to come, full RS4 wide body conversion, R8 ceramics and B7 RS4 buckets and full retrim.

That's quite a er... Loud interior hehe

I know it's meant to be down at that level when static as that's the style, but have you got any pics of it when it's at driving around height?

Nice composition, but way to bright. Sky and fields dominate the car.

Currently working through my Nurburgring 24 hour (+ supporting races) photos. Here is a small selection from what's been uploaded so far:

Not the best panning effort for getting the cars sharp, but I still like the shot.

I always read this thread but I forget to post in it. I'll crosspost fro RP4:

Motorsport at the Palace again last weekend. 3 years ago I went as a spectator and used the shots I took to get in the next year for a bit as press. This year I was given press pass for both days and was roaming trackside. Good fun. Here are a few:

You must work bloody hard to keep your floors that shiny. wink

Same dealer as the F512M, or your own location?

The cleaning isn't really my own handywork unfortunately :P

Same dealer, shooting some of their 'classic' stock at the moment. Bit of a pain to edit (the reflection means you're effectively cleaning up the car twice!) but the results look better than the yard they were using before. Plus I get to stay dry! Pity they won't let me take them somewhere nice though.
