All i did i use a DoF preview button on my 7D and adjust the aperture and shutter until i had the required result smile

Thanks - not sure if my 600d has DoF preview*. What I still don't quite understand is the lighting - how everything is black except what you were focusing on (similar to the gearknob shot adjacent in the album). I love that sense of focus and isolation with close-ups.

  • EDIT: Yes it does, just had a play with it with my 50mm f1.8.

Grangemouth refinery was flaring so swung by on the way home for a photo. Forgot my flash gun to illuminate the car though!
