Actually, when the Spanish conquistadors first encountered llamas, which were hitherto completely unknown animals to Europeans) they called them sheep. They were called sheep (or rather oveja, which is Spanish for sheep) for some time. So there, nah nah ninah nah. Incidentally they had never encountered jaguars before either, so called them tigers.
