Not in the same league as the big boys toys here, but I thought I'd get a cheap one to learn how to fly before I blow loads of cash.

Very short clip from the Hubsan X4 with the 2mb HD camera to show image quality. Colour is a little blue, but image itself is surprisingly crisp.

My dog hates it.

ETA: It's tiny BTW

I bought a $100 cheapie to learn to fly too. Glad I did unless the big ones are easier!
Steve, Rob, I did the same as you and bought a Hubsan to learn to fly. You'll be pleased to know the larger ones are easier, and much easier if they have GPS! It is worth practicing with the small ones though as they will hone your reflexes.

The Phantoms are so much easier but these little ones are great for learning orientation.

What sort of price are we looking at Boro, and do they qualify for ph10?

And have I missed something? You can't use your go pro with the dji gimbal?

Do not rely on the 'Coming Home' feature even with a strong GPS lock (6+) at take off and in a clear area.

Had it once land on the roof of my house, and the second time in a very tell tree. Suitably battle scared now!

I plan to try it initially in the middle of York racecourse, so if everything goes wrong there should only be a smoking crater in the ground, not in anything valuable!

It's definitely not as scary as it sounds especially if you do your pre-flight checks before taking off.

First few flights done, I've done plenty of take offs and landings to practice as I thought that would be the most difficult bit, I have got it down to the point I can land on the peli case I keep it all in.

Now looking to add a rotorpixel gimbal to it.

Have got to grips with mine a little more now.

Learnt how to override 'Coming Home' so no more crash landings. Also switched it to FCC mode on the control software which increased max range from 2000 to 3700 feet.

I'm learning on the Hubsan X4 (see 10 or so posts back).

I really wouldn't be put off getting straight into a bigger quadcopter, I've no previous quadcopter experience and started flying my Phantom Vision on Wednesday. I've had 3 charges worth of experience and can now land it back on the peli case I keep it in, they really are easy.

Mark, just wait 'til you try 25 knot winds and your gps stabilisation fails wink

Foolishly I tried 25+ knot winds yesterday in Scarborough, was fruity but doable. Not sure I'd fancy gps failure though!

Seconded. We sell loads to first time fliers who all say how easy they are to fly, navigate and lane :-D
