Given the footage I've seen I think its safe to assume a lot of people don't comply. There's a video of a guy flying his quad along blackpool sea front, over people walking, cyclists etc... I think its safe to say he doesn't have control of all those people!

Your point is correct though, other people not complying doesn't make it ok for you not to.

What deals are around now then? I was expecting a glut of them on ebay as the novelty wore off following christmas
The guy flying along Blackpool Promenade got fined I believe

Following the White House incident it looks like DJI are rolling out geofencing in the next firmware update:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/...

That should soon be a fairly big list of banned locations once everyone starts applying to be included.

From a CAA perspective, they get really interested if there's any commercial element, however small. Uploading to a YouTube channel that is 'monetized' would be enough. They have gone after a few individuals.
If this is true then I'm in for it!
I've got a DJI F450 and have filmed and uploaded to youtube and monezied it! although I made sure I kept within the CAA/CAP722 rules.
Does anyone have details on the blackpool incident? I would be interested to see what he got find, completely understand them throwing the book at him, great video by OMG broke every rule in book

I bought this and first of all i'm so glad i didn't spank a grand on a DJI as a complete novice. The orientation takes some getting used to!

Anyway, it's typical cheap chinese quality but it actually flies OK. I'm getting the hang of it more and more with each charge. Which is often as you only probably get about 7 mins flight in total.

Anyway it's pretty cool. Can see how you can get hooked.

This one i bought didn't come with a camera, but it has a mount for it and the controller can activate it according to the instructions. I have seen videos of it in the Asian market with a camera but i can't find one anywhere. Anyone know where i can buy one and if it's likely to be plug and play? There is a socket for it on the bottom, 4 pins.

I thought about strapping a go pro to it but not while i'm still bouncing it off anything and everything and i think the weight will drop the flying time dramatically.

David.

I've bought another fugging drone.... Got the hang of the orientation stuff now and couldn't find a camera for the one i had. Thought of strapping my go pro to it but the weight would pretty much kill any flying time.

Slowly working my way up to something more luxurious but for now i'm still crashing them. Will see if i can keep this one stable enough for some filming. Although i do like throwing them about in a bit of acrobatics..

So, who's up for the new DJI Phantom 3?

Phantom 3 Advanced or Phantom 3 Professional. The difference being the Professional has a 4K/30fps cam and a higher power battery charger.

What are the advantages for going for an Inspire over this apart from dual controls? This also seems to have the location sensors pointing down as well?

No props in your footage, faster and steadier flight.

Boro is the 4k camera on the PH3 a lenticular lens (no fish eye) and can the 4k be reduced to 1080p 60fps?

If it was 4K at 30fps only this would be a problem for low light days.

I take it the batteries are exactly the same as the PH2.
