It seems quite random. My latest is pretty smooth - and I did nothing my end any different

ETA: Having said that, it gets jerky at 1:22 (whereas my master version doesn't)
But that is 1080P not 720P like the last one? Looks far better as 720P is too small - my computer monitor immediately scales it up to fill the screen thus losing res. And that stuff is too good to lose res!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3TUM3cZs-o

Also remember that vertical frame sync is a different rate with computers - screens run at 60Hz or higher usually but the video is 50Hz - so it can 'tear' on faster moving horizontals as the electron beam* flys back to the start of the screen at the wrong time and in the wrong place
- legacy issues simplified
Mrs Local and I are off up to Northern Scotland for a couple of weeks on Saturday so I thought I'd treat myself with the intention of attempting to replicate some of the wonderful pictures posted by GetCarter.
I've picked up a DJI Phantom 2 and a cheap ebay Gimbal for my GoPro:
With no UAV experience whatsoever and limited photography experience, this could go very badly wrong, but I'm looking forward to trying!

Had a play with mine a few weeks ago. Surprised how stable the image is considering it was quite a windy day.

I've spent an evening DIYing yesterday . I like drone backpack for its cost (£40) protection and convenience but there's literally no space in it for anything else.
Now, with a help of Stanley knife it can comfortably fit:
- Surface Pro 4 with charger
- Phantom 3 Adv with three batteries, spare blades and Pro charger
- Sony Xperia z3 Tablet for flying
- Sony RX1R with spare battery
- Canon G7X with spare batteries and charger
- GoPro 4 - Removu R1+ GoPro remote
- LG Cam 360
- Aukey Quick charger with 3 usb ports
Next I will try to add penny board straps, water bottle and documents pockets on the outside.
I'll keep you updated!
How do you travel with your gear?

Any idea what the P5 will be like? And when?
I think I'd be more tempted by the inspire.. Transportation puts me off though as it's huge!
Well it's next year I'm afraid. I've read that it'll have more range, more battery life, fly faster and have 240 frames per second slo-mo in 1080 - plus more sensors to avoid 'stuff'. All rumours of course, but lets face it each one they bring out is considerably better than the last.I think I'd be more tempted by the inspire.. Transportation puts me off though as it's huge!

Has anyone sold their P2/3 and upgraded to the P4 yet?
Did exactly this - sold my PV2+ on fleabay - and bought a P4. Bought my P4 from Apple Store as get a corporate discount (which more or less paid for the second battery I bought together)Chalk and cheese in performance and quality of video/photos etc
Suppose, for example, someone had been tipped over the edge by all of the wonderful and stunning drone footage and stills on this, and other threads, and now wishes to purchase a drone, what would you knowledgeable chaps recommend?
For background, I live on the edge of the New Forest and although I actually live in a "no-fly zone" there are plenty of flying opportunities within easy reach. I have photographic experience, but a drone would add a whole new dimension (see what I did?).
Sensible budget, say £400-£500 and very user-friendly. So far I've come up with the Parrot Bebop and Phantom 3. Any other recommendations?

No fly zones are a joke. Never influenced my drone. DJI now available at that sort of price. For background, I live on the edge of the New Forest and although I actually live in a "no-fly zone" there are plenty of flying opportunities within easy reach. I was a bit surprised when I checked the "no-fly" zones, because I'm nowhere near the flight path for Southampton or any other airport. With regard to the Phantom, I've heard uncomplimentary things about their customer service, but if I bought from a reputable UK supplier I wouldn't have too many concerns.
I suppose the question is - Would a Phantom 3 be a good purchase for a novice at the moment, or is there anything else that I should consider?

DJI customer service is terrible. You have to fight to get any response. With regard to the Phantom, I've heard uncomplimentary things about their customer service, but if I bought from a reputable UK supplier I wouldn't have too many concerns.

However, Phantom 3 is piss easy to fly and gets good photographic results. Just don't crash and expect DJI to help. (It's REALLY difficult to crash unless you are a prat. I looked today and have more than 2 tb of footage from 300 flights, without a crash (that was my fault).
I went for the Phantom 3 Advanced and have not been disappointed. I was a bit worried about having so much £££ flying around, but it's never caused me a problem. Just make sure you set the return to home height above the height of anything you plan to fly behind. I now fly other RC aircraft and I've crashed all of them repeatedly, but never the Phantom.
