Dji Phantom UAVs
Discussion
I'm finally in a position to buy one of these shortly, its going to be my first venture in videography and I have a couple of questions that hopefully people could help me with.
Does anyone have any good resources/links to explain frame rates and compression? an also an idea of how to edit everything together. I've got lots of shots planed I'm just still trying to understand how to piece it all together and how best to film it all

iMovie on a Mac, Free GoPro Studio software or Movie Maker on a PC.Does anyone have any good resources/links to explain frame rates and compression? an also an idea of how to edit everything together. Premier Pro if you want all bells and whistles.
Phantom 3 onwards records in 4k, when you've finished editing, you decide how much to 'squash'. 1080 or less for Youtube. Take photos in RAW and process in Lightroom or Photoshop for best results.
I'm still confused by the lack of continuing autofocus on the Mavik.
Surely this is a huge issue when tracking subjects at varying distances?
For what it's worth, Casey Neistat just took delivery of a Karma, it will be interesting to see his full review. The Mavik is currently his drone of choice, and he's used all of them.

it's not THAT MUCH of an issue since the infinity range of the focus will cover anything from several meters away to... well, infinity. Surely this is a huge issue when tracking subjects at varying distances?

Casey's a great YouTuber, but a complete liability. I really wouldn't put any store in his opinions about drones - and no, he hasn't used all of them andyr30 said:
Some people have got theirs...but DJI have released a statement saying that orders placed before 3rd November might not ship for 7/8 weeks...end of December time.
They say if you order today it would ship within December.
That is my experience thus far - no stock and only pre-order. I am leaving Dec 7th for NZ.They say if you order today it would ship within December.
Could I buy through Dubai I wonder?
thanks
I think I broke the Mavic Luckily that was on the last day in Madeira.
Again, I think it was my fault and stupidity, can't blame DJI...
The gimbal seems to think that something is obstructing it and doesn't want to engage. It tries and tries and tries... I think it's because I wasn't using the gimbal clamp. I had it always with the cover on when in case but gimbal was loose, I was hiking/jumping etc etc and had it always with me for six days so it got a big amount of bumps. I can see the signs on it when it was rubbing against itself.
So lesson for me to always use protection
I tried to search for any solution online but there seems to be nothing about it. I've found dronedoctor.co.uk and will give them a call tomorrow, apparently they fix Mavics already.
