I have a quick question regarding the active track features and using them in the UK. With the drone-code rule of keeping a distance of 50m to people and buildings, does this render using this feature redundant in the UK?
For example, some colleagues are doing a long(ish) distance charity cycle later in the year and I'd consider doing some drone video of this, but from my reading of the rules I'd be limited to shots from quite a distance and nothing like a 'chase cam' shot.
Is this right?
As others have pointed out, the weasel words are 'under your control', so consenting members of the public are ok if they're properly informed and aware. Depending on your drone, you can also get narrower lenses which allow you to get closer to the action without running the risk of running into people. For example, some colleagues are doing a long(ish) distance charity cycle later in the year and I'd consider doing some drone video of this, but from my reading of the rules I'd be limited to shots from quite a distance and nothing like a 'chase cam' shot.

The main thing with Drone Code is common sense safety - there's a case going on in the US where a number of wedding guests were injured by a drone. In the UK you could argue they were 'under your control', but if you're not flying with adequate safety margins and control, you're going to get hit hard. In the current climate, both the media and officials are itching for a fight so it's a good idea not to give them an excuse.

That's also now on the store.dji.com front page. So tempted, but I've been looking at used P3s and P4s for the last couple of days and now I need to re-justify the extra £££s to myself.
Dammit!!!!!
Used P4s with extra batteries are going for £850ish, £500 cheaper than a Mavic Fly More combo.

Let us know how you get on - I was going to go for a P4 to replace my P2 but think I may hold out for a Mavic. I can't decide!
Will do, I'll be hovering over the order button all day. This will be the last toy I get to buy for myself before the baby arrives so I better make it a good one.DavidCane said:

Apparently if you call Maplin they may have some in stock and will send one out, but you have to phone as they are not showing on the website.Dunno about the uk but her in Holland the mavic Pro has suddenly become almost easy to find. I'd suggest phoning Maplins as they seem to often have the odd unit in store. Otherwise just check the major online retailers regularly as stock seems to be coming in regularly now.
I just got one from one of the larger online retailers here in Holland. I reckon the main backlog will be over in a week.
