FYI Sony FE mount people, the lenses are getting a massive price hike, I was looking at the 55 / 1.8 and its gone up £180! theres also a cashback offer thats going to expire next month, some of the lenses are still the old price in a few places, so if you have your eye on one BUY NOW!

On the subject of these cameras, or the latest versions rather, has anyone experimented with any of the Canon lens adaptors? I've looked at various reviews on YouTube but one can never be sure if they are sponsored or not.

On a similar subject, I was about to sell my A7RII (with 28mm) and get an RX100 MK4 but that is now £850!

I use mine exclusively with canon lenses and a metabones adaptor. All manual focus though.

The new sigma adaptor is supposed to be great

Do you use the focus peaking?

Zooming in to check focus isn't a good method. Most non 'cine' lenses have focus creep

'focus creep' happens when you change aperture. I'm not doing that as its already stopped down.

(sony does this automatically, canon I use magic lantern to do it, or the dof preview button).

Or if you use in Focus Magnifier, nothing changes smile

I have it set up on the C2 button (could be the default, can't remember)

Oh I wasnt talking about physically zooming in the lens?

Most lenses are not parfocal so you will mess up focus anyhow.

The Sony A6300 (body only) I bought two months ago for £699 is now £899 from the same outlet. I know a couple of people who bought lots of stuff post Brexit knowing prices would go through the roof.

Have any of you early adopters of the A7/A7r had any reliability issues? I'm toying with the idea of getting an A7 mk1 now they are cheaper. I'm coming from a D700 which to be quite honest I would imagine will still be working in 30 years time it's so robust!
It's either that or a D750......decisions!

Nope, no problems with mine (a7 & a7s)

Battery life might not be as good as a D750 (buy a spare).

Thanks for the info. If I buy an A7 will I regret not getting an A7R? I'm not printing massive posters or anything so I think it would be overkill for me but I do enjoy landscape photography?

a7r is 50% more pixels which is about 20% more print size.

a7 isnt a bad camera either and doesnt have a few problems the a7r has!

And that sums up just about every review of the two cameras. Six of one and half a dozen of the other!
