I always struggle with helicopter shots. Always end up with the blades blurred and the also the helicopter, or the other way around.
Might have realized that you would nail it!

Ha! I always say 1/200th is a good starting point to get some movement in the rotors smile

All shot on a D7100 and either a 10.5mm fisheye, 24-70mm F2.8 or 70-200mm F2.8! Thanks means a lot!

Probably my favourite image from the week, a look into the cockpit of a EH101 Merlin with the NVG lights on (hence the green glow/light)

They're obviously a good ice breaker for this sort of thing.

Thankyou!

Yup.

Whatever the reason or the circumstances some images just stand out.

I suspect that Lloyd relates to the moment as it happens in ways that may not work in a totally posed environment.

That's fine. That results speaks volumes in photographic terms.

Amazing photos Rob. Have you ever or are you ever planning on doing any tutorials for hose wishing to learn astro photography. Its one area I don't really know hoe to create the image and I'd love to learn.

Cheers Dave! I do have an old guide I put up a while ago, http://zarphag.com/2012/11/star-photography-a-guid... it really needs a refresh. I am supposed to be doing a how to 360 astro for 500px but not yet got in gear.. I also run astro workshops with a guy called Mark Gee, check him out, but probably a bit far for you to travel!

Guys that really means a lot, I've always steered clear of portraits as I never thought I had much talent in that field but HB14 really threw up some interesting opportunities. So thank you very much smile

Ps Rob, that first shot is awesomeness personified!
