A few from Southport Airshow.. I did feel under-endowed with my Sigma 120-400mm though - there were people with some serious glass there!
I am jealous of your weather - I went on ETA: I went Saturday, not Sunday.

Thanks droopsnoot/rogue86 - I was lucky with the weather... Especially as I was originally going on the Saturday as that was the only day the Vulcan was (supposed) to be there.
I found the lancasters really difficult to photograph because even though they were in formation they travelling quite far apart and their bodywork is really dark so was disappointed with those pics.
That Kahn RR looks bad-ass!

I went to Southport on Sunday but unfortunately had to bail before the Vulcan to catch our train.
As you say the Lancasters were really hard to photograph, out of many I took this one is one of the few I like!

...and I know this picture must have been taken a million times over the years!

Luck is always a huge part of it, but you've played it well and waited for the light to hit the aircraft properly which a lot of people misjudge.I found the lancasters really difficult to photograph because even though they were in formation they travelling quite far apart and their bodywork is really dark so was disappointed with those pics.

I've always found the best way to photograph the Lancaster is to do so as almost a landscape shot with the iconic silhouette passing through, which is handy because most people naturally go for the close-ups/tight crop shots so it's an easy way to be different and it means you dont need a 600mm lens! As with any landscape though, it depends on interesting lighting/location to make it really work.
True enough about the setting. I ended up overdosing on shots framed by or with the intricate lamps on the pier, mainly because that's where I was standing (near the pier on the beach, not on the actual pier which seemed to be reserved for special people), and partly because I got one lucky shot:
and that would have been better if the plane was a little angled over. But sometimes an extra element rather than just a plane in the sky can help.
Still, not a wasted day by any means. I'm more disappointed when I look at the clarity other people seem to get, but practice may help. Nice to see others have that cloud effect on the Typhoon wings - I have one shot like that and I wasn't sure it wasn't just the weather.
Nighthawk, those Salford shots are very nice. I popped in there around this time last year but didn't have a camera with me, but I was thinking it was a good location for the future.

Being nosy here, what sort of PP have you done on these, I can't believe they are straight from the camera.
If they are, they are superb.
I have a friend who bought himself a Canon 7D and is now a 'photographer'. He's taken shots all over Salford Quays and unsurprisingly, they are nowhere near as atmospheric as yours
