Rushup Edge in the Peaks. It's a shame it wasn't a full whiteout but yesterday was the first decent sun set since it snowed.

Was up on Stanage edge looking at the very same sunset. Bare and Lonely Tree by bowden.harry, on Flickr
Didn't get much that i'm very happy with though.
Lovely sky however.

I really like this shot and it's been a nice lesson for me. I've taken similar shots but I've realised that what lifts this is the foreground items and the way the light has hit the tuft of moss (?). Mine have just been pointing up at the canopy.
I shall try again!
Cheers The light was very nice but it's also an HDR which I have fiddled around with in Photoshop (in order to bring it back to what my eye could see of course )I shall try again!
The 'foreground interest' thing is a big cliche in photography but it does help a lot of shots imho especially if there's something nice to hand (eg the moss with the sunlight on it).

Just been messing about with some colour grading (trying and failing mostly). What are peoples thoughts on this?

After:
Along the right lines? (appreciate contrast now needs sorting, but in terms of colour)

I feel like I spend my life messing around with colour grading. I absolutely love photography that looks like stills from good cinematography, so you have my vote. Before:

What is colour grading?! The second one looks a bit desaturated to me - was that the plan? Before:

Yeah quite visible different on my monitor. The after image definitely has the cinematic look but I actually prefer the before photo!
Couple more from Saturdays A2A, I appreciate general aviation isn't everyones cup of tea!
Shooting so slow has blur both the wings as the pilot dips the right wing for a fast break, quite like the effect really!

Lloyd - Congrats on the latest air/air job, images from it look great!
Most recent shoot from me. Still a few more to edit but this one is my favourite.

st! That is awesome mateStarting to get to grips with my new Pentax K3 - seems to have some lovely features that I can hopefully use as my skill level increases. Not had chance to get that many shots with it yet but here are a couple of initial ones.

This was taken with an old pentax-m manual focus 50mm f1.7 lens that I bought to try with the k3 - it seems to give some lovely photos when light levels would normally be an issue. it's nice to be able to buy some older lenses to have a play about with, and the k3 has the stabilization built into the camera body and not the lenses so even old lenses can give some cracking results

Nice work Jon Just a touch off with the focus on pooch I think? Other two are great
cheers for the feedback, Jack the dog was a tricky shot as he kept moving about and with such a shallow DOF the focus was a bit touch and go ( this is the first time I have ever used a MF lens setup)- but there is domething about the image I like, maybe its the slight focus issue that gives it 'depth'?looking forward to more shoots with the K3 in the future, and hopefully an improvement in skills and understanding how to get the best from camera and subjects
regards - Jon
