I want decent photography buddies! I swear everyone on this thread is northern or has migrated north from where I live to build a beautiful nest in the Highlands. cursehehe
I think I'm pretty local to you (think you recently studied at my place of work!), but sadly not in the same league as those northerners of which you speak frown
Blimey, you might be. I'm still there - just finishing my MRes. What do you do there if you don't mind me asking?

Dogsey, I don't know where your starting point was. hehe

Immediately before the move I was very close to the Dartford River Crossing, now in the Forest of Dean.

Apologises for the re-upload. I wanted to make a slight tweak to the levels.

I'm over on College Lane. I work for Information Hertfordshire, based in the LRC.

I was sitting in Starbucks in Next - I want to do my bit to get Ireland out of its financial difficulties - writing on my laptop. I could feel a kid on the table next to me, around 12-14, looking at me. I find it difficult to write in such circumstances so stopped when I finished a paragraph, closed the doc but left the computer running.

I confess that I 'pinch' a lot of pictures off PH Photo threads to use as wallpaper and, as I was plugged in, it went on the scroll-through images mode.

The kid asked me what I was doing and I said writing. Mummy said that Aiden wanted to be a writer and I tried to put him off as I don't want competition.

Not really> I did all a bit of: what do you want to do? Do you read a lot and outside you speciality? You'll get rejection letters but even JK Rowling got a lot of them and even if you don't you can have some of mine. Mummy and daddy nodding and smiling. I enjoy chatting to strangers and, more importantly, have sold a few books that way, especially in Starbucks for some reason. I felt a sale on the way.

The woman then said that the images on my laptop were spectacular and asked if I'd taken them myself. I turned the laptop round so that dad could get a look as well and confessed that I'd taken them off the internet. She asked where from and when I said Pistonheads it all went a bit colder.

It seems I'd gone from creative, thoughtful and artistic to sexist, fascist and prejudiced in one URL. I could not be trusted near little Aiden. I closed my laptop, the images no longer fascinating.

Dad thanked me as I left but Aiden was held by mum. He gave me a bit of a smile, but I think he'll be told to be a footballer. I didn't make a sale either.

Perhaps if Random Photos could be a bit more lefty it might help.

Anyway, some good unforced feedback there. Spectacular! And thanks for the wallpaper. If I hit a bit of a wall when writing and I'm not online, I look at the piccies and it brings me round.

Ha! Devastating. Worse still, the Random Photos thread is the friendliest thread in all of Pistonheadonia.

We all know PH is slightly to the right of Genghis Kahn - as demonstrated here:

.. but just because I support Spurs doesn't mean I'll diss an Arsenal supporter!

Though I'm happy to talk about yesterday's game wink

That's crazy. I knew PH was to the right in general, but still. It is possible that the poll is skewed a bit by being in NP&E though, most lefties like myself know that we are hopelessly outnumbered in there biggrin

Back on topic: As usual the standard of photography is amazing chaps. Maybe one day I *might* take a photo good enough to be considered worthy of this thread!

P.S. The above is self imposed, I know that pretty much all pics are welcome on here regardless of talent levels.

Oh dear...a little bit of me just died.

I'm a centrist by nature, so am not fundamentally opposed to some of what the Conservatives say (I think both they and Labour are equally misguided for different reasons). But UKIP?!? That's depressing reading...

Maybe it's new. A sort of proactive preventative measure after the fire.
