Weeeeeellll ....

But seriously, as an investment (and if it's as good as it sounds) it's probably no worse than a deposit in a German bank and may be better. (Assuming no chiropractor fees ....)

'course you one would probably need the new megasensor body to really make it work for its keep thus making the economics a tad harder to, er, calculate.

Was the lake there when you set up the shot?

Two views with a crop on the second. Tried it using the "thirds" idea on the second, but think it looks better balanced with the horizon half way even though it leaves a lot of dark space below, and in the sky which lets it 'breathe' more for me, as I saw it at the time. Any thoughts on a better crop?

Certainly looks odd if the contrail is positioned on a line 2/3 in from the left to my eye.

If the banding in the sky comes out on PH that's not on the original, seems to happen as it's compressed into a jpg to embed?
The black space at the top and bottom does nothing for me. In fact I'm not keen on the original at all, but a crop like this seems to work:

The thirds thing is a useful guide but that shot is all about the sky. A bit of deep black silhouette is more than enough to balance it in my eyes, any more and it detracts from the main focus - the sky.

All just MHO of course.

Cheers.

That is similar to another I saved with the foreground cropped right back, plane still as near centre as the original position allowed and just a bit more of the dark sky left above than in yours. There's no deliberate vignette filter etc. it was a very dark sky and that's pretty much how it looked in camera, just emphasised a bit by adding a bit of contrast.

Awesome set as Rob said. My only criticism is with the above image. You've used HDR (in the right way - I'm not going down that road) but the blue sky coming through the trees on the left has halod (haloed?). It drew my eye.

It must be pretty difficult to capture such speed and awkward angle in varying lighting.
