Thanks guys, we were all pretty amazed. To see them was amazing enough but to get a semi-decent shot is even better smile We only heard about it late afternoon when we were in the Mach Loop!

My attempt to get something half decent in flat gray light out of a couple of days scouting for a place to take eclipse photos from....looks like its going to be a totally blow out cloudy morning tomorrow but I have my fingers crossed, very jealous of Lloyd's shot of the northern lights...supposedly tomorrow morning far enough north you will be able to see the corona of the sun + the northern lights + venus all at the same time..something never before photographed and it won't happen again in my lifetime.

Oh fk off Lloyd!

Sorry I meant to think that bit.

What a shot. I can't believe that was in the UK (and not the tip of Scotland). How close to that view was it in person?

Bah! I see that nearly every night.

Except the light is white and comes from a sodding great M&S distribution centre.

Great shot Lloyd, not the least for being unexpected at the location.

I'm completely naff at judging distances, but it was over Barmouth by the looks of it so perhaps 5-10 miles.

Thanks everyone smile

I suspect it may have been a bit further than that.

Love that! How is something like that shot? I'm presuming its not just as simple as a timer..
Thanks smile what bit, the selfie or the clouds? Tripod, Canon 6D and 24-105 @ 28mm. Mirror lock up, manual exposure, ISO 100, f13, 30secs. Lee 3 stop hard grad on the sky, and Lee big stopper (10 stop ND) to give the 30 second exposure to blur the sky and water. 10 second timer giving me time to position myself. smile
Great thanks for thatsmile
