The Tammy at F2.8 - Really enjoying this so far , hand held even at a second is proving to be sharp in a high percentage of shots.
If everything had been in focus I'd have loved that. But whenever I look at it I wait a few seconds for the image to buffer, expecting the background to come into focus. Makes my eyes go funny.
This is why the title is so important. The photo is about the one selected flower and that's why it's a great picture. Call it 'lake' or 'mountain' and it wouldn't be so good..
Call it what you want; it still makes me squint at it regardless of the text underneath. And I'm not really a 'titles' person, I'm a 'wow, that's a lovely photo' sort of guy anyway.

We're all different and there's no right and wrong answer, so I don't feel bad saying that I think it's a beautiful scene, well composed and exposed...and that my eye is drawn to the hills, those lovely reflections and that foreground interest sets it all off nicely. And I reckon I'd have loved the alternate version.
I'm not knocking it, just expressing a preference, and I'd hope Chris won't take offence.

This one is straight out of the camera, but I have the RAW file for when I start learning how to edit them properly.

If that's out of camera then I envy you having the RAW to play with as well. Nicely done.

I've been a part of this thread since part 1 and have checked it nearly every day for years but it never ceases to amaze me in quality. I'm a member of a few dedicated photography forums and they never yield anywhere near the standard this lowly thread does. I don't post in her as much these days but I'm definitely still here and still admiring.

90% of my stuff is car based with the odd bit of landscape, but having bought a couple of speedlights, stands and triggers, I thought I best get in some practice at shooting people.
These shots are of my 14yr old daughter at a friends clothes shop.

Any c&c is more than welcome.

not yet! I've just been through the whole redundancy consultation thing at work and thankfully kept my job but playing it safe just now!

clap Agreed . Some of your work last year and the turn of this was fantastic, the Mount Cook? snowy sunrise image still is one of the best I've seen in a long time .
