It is not a very cheap P&S camera it is still not the best of the bunch but it will only do jpg is there anything I can do / learn to make my pictures a little better?

Well the fundamental issue is that the sky is blown as the camera has exposed for the landscape - you could try filters or perhaps take multiple shouts and combine then later? As it stands there's not much you can do (if you had a RAW file it would be different...)

Also it's a bit flat looking but easily fixed up in photoshop or suchlike - you could some contrast for instance. smile
