Here is mine

It is not a very cheap P&S camera it is still not the best of the bunch but it will only do jpg is there anything I can do / learn to make my pictures a little better?

Thank you
Well the fundamental issue is that the sky is blown as the camera has exposed for the landscape - you could try filters or perhaps take multiple shouts and combine then later? As it stands there's not much you can do (if you had a RAW file it would be different...)

Also it's a bit flat looking but easily fixed up in photoshop or suchlike - you could some contrast for instance. smile
Yep... a few issues... over exposed, depth of field is neither one thing nor the other (hills are out of focus), lacks any sort of post processing (in desperate need of shadow & contrast). Needs starting again really.

Apologies if that sounds a bit brutal.

Not brutal at all, but confession time.

After I posted I checked the exif data and realised that the camera I took that with was binned a year or so ago as I noticed on a trip to Iceland that it was (technical term) Fooked.

The photo is from 2012 and has never been touched up or altered in anyway.
I do have a copy of paintshop pro X, will this be good enough for me to practice with on a few photo's including the posted one?

Thanks to you both for your time and help.

I've never used Paintshop Pro X but if you can adjust highlights/shadows/contrast/colours etc then you should be able to make a positive difference (just don't go mad - 'less is more' wink ).

Why not have a go at a pic and put up a before and after here and get some feedback smile

Thank you and I will but would anyone mind if I started a new thread for it as I think I have derailed this one enough?

Maybe a tutorial thread sort of?

That could be really interesting and useful. I'm pretty new to Lightroom, getting back into Photoshop which has changed a lot since I used it last - in the 90s! - and am just playing with things like Topaz Adjust and the Google Nik whatever program(s) so it would be good to see what can be done and how others use things, or to sort problems out.

I have created one - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

If anyone wants to rename the thread to something better just go for it.

Sorry for derailing the thread.

Down on the beach again. I've noticed that after months of the sun setting inland it's finally shifted and is now setting out over the sea again.

Thanks Mike. The sky went a bit crazy shortly after I'd taken that one...

That's lovely. Really conveys the stillness.
