Actually at 20.30 last night there were only a couple of us there with decent cameras and the others had wandered off by the time I'd arrived, advising me that I was too late and that the light was much better ten minutes ago.... There were only maybe about a dozen or so other people coming along after that to have a look as it as the vast majority had been there during the day with blazing sunshine overhead.
It also helps that I live close enough to see the hangers out of the back so I can pop out for a quick snap, children permitting smile

First test shot with a hired Sigma 150-600mm Sport, shot at 600mm handheld (but braced against a wall) at 1/100th sec. Reasonably pleased with it. (eta. small crop)

finally tracked down a sensibly priced Pentax smc-m 100mm f2.8 lens to add to my collection of primes. These old manual focus and manual aperture lenses have a character all of their own and are superbly constructed.

First pics for me for ages and ages, but finally had some time out with the boy. I actually go what I wanted from these.

C&C welcomed and appropriated

Not the best photo and certainly not the best processing (doing it my laptop while still away, but I had to share this shot, taken from a canoe with a hired Sigma 150-600mm Sport, this alligator was just gently cruising down the river when we caught him up and didn't care one bit that we were there.

Good Stuff everyone, Dogsey liking the shot of the Alligator... how are you finding the 150-600?

Liking the Ariel stuff above too, and the anglesey shots! biggrin

A few from a recent trip to the Hawk Conservancy in Hampshire. It really feels like cheating to someone who considers themselves an amateur wildlife 'tog... Good practice though!

Last few for tonight, Harris Hawk in a meadow. Easier to make it look natural, far more difficult in every other respect!

Thanks.

Best way to describe the 150-600S in one word so far is heavy, in two words it's bleeding heavy! Seems to have performed well in the bright Florida sunshine, not sure how much use it would be in a typical UK woodland unless it was fitted on to a full-frame ISO monster. I'll know more when I get home next week and have a look at the images on the main PC.

Amazing work on here as always. I tend to forget about this place but everytime I come back the photography always blows me away.
