Thanks guys! smile It was an awesome experience, definitely one of the hardest environments I've shot in.

Glad to see you got airborne Lloyd, hopefully it will become a more regular thing. Did they Cat1 or 2 you for the medical?

Thanks for the kind words about my milky way effort. Really fancy finding somewhere near home now to have another crack at it.
Whereabouts 'down south' are you? There are pockets all along the coast that afford a decent Milky Way view, depending on time of year. It also doesn't take much in the way of stray ambient light to prevent such views.

I shot the attached facing SE from West Wittering at about 4am in April. As the year progresses, the Milky Way becomes visible earlier in the night and rotates past south to SW. The National Parks of South Downs, New Forest & Exmoor all have Milky Way-friendly viewing areas, whilst the skies of Dorset & Dartmoor are notably dark.

ETA: The shot above is a stack of 8 consecutive frames to de-noise. Looks like selecting a resized version from flickr to post here has crucified the quality :-/

A few random shots from this year's HotRod Hayride, using my trusty Leica and a bunch of cheap film from Poundland that was out of date!....

cool pics
These work well for me. Your framing reminds me a bit of how (PHer) Nick Grant captures the scene.

I have friends who love the Poundland film. Who did the developing and at what point did you add the toning- surely that's not simply from the expired film?

Thanks for the kind words! Interestingly enough, Nick Grant is one of my inspirations when shooting these kind of events, so I may have shamelessly "stolen" a few of his composition techniques! This was my 3rd Hot Rod Hayride, and I'm pleased with the way these photos have turned out, but I'm still learning.

The processing was done by Peak Imaging, and I scanned the negatives in using my Plustek scanner. The scanning software I use has presets for different brands of film and to be honest the Agfa preset was a little too bright, so I used a preset from a Kodak film which worked well for the look & feel I was after. The Agfa film does come out slightly vintage/retro but I suspect the combination of lens and out of date film gave me the overall tone.

Stunning location Rob! One small thing that struck me - the WB between the top half (warm) and the bottom half (cool) seem quite different?

Thanks chapsthumbup I'm working on being well enough to drive north on Friday. Chanonry Point on Saturday on our way to Ullapool. Sunday will be spent filling in as many of the roads we haven't done before on our way to somewhere near Kylesu/Kinlochbervie. Followed by a leisurely drive to the Lighthouse at Strathy Point for a week of Whale watching (hopefully) and Drone flying. biggrin

Spent a week at Strathy earlier this year. Got to see Minke whales each morning, and puffins over at Dunnet Head. Fabulous place to spend some time - hope the weather is as kind as it was for us! 👍🏻
