Don't understand folks getting in a tizzy about Christmas being called the holiday season, many beliefs, not all santa based.

Because "Holiday Season" is an Americanism. The term to most British people woule normall be interpreted as the time of year between June and September when most Brits take Holidays.

Christmas to most British people menas 25th December and the holidays that surround it, whether or not they are Christians.

Chrstmas has become a genereric term much like hoover for a vacuum cleaner.

Santa is also an Americanism. "Father Christmas" please if you are British.

It does not matter. If someone says "happy holidays" to me, I say thank you, they are wishing another well.
