Dark Blue - Blues & Royals
The Life Guards wear red tunics and have white sheepskins on their saddles and a white plume.
I worked with the Blues and Royals for a couple of weeks in the late '80s/early '90s. A bunch of us Armoured Engineers were attached for a demo/exercise thing somewhere in Germany, I fail to remember where, but I'm sure it began with an 'S'. The best damned 'Other Ranks' mess I've ever dined in. Table cloths, place mats, and cutlery on the tables, bread and (whisper it!) bottled sauces on each table, a lounge area with a TV so's you could wait for the food in a civilised manner, and chefs carving the meat to order in front of you. Eggs cooked to order at breakfast, omelettes on demand, unlimited hot drinks and squash - we poor RE's were a bit confused at first, fearing we might have strolled into the Officers' Mess by mistake! The Life Guards wear red tunics and have white sheepskins on their saddles and a white plume.
You lot did have some funny ideas about coveralls as a form of dress, though, and we did get yelled at quite a lot for looking scruffy, and not marching around the barracks 'properly'.

Blib, the teenage years.
How very dare you!O/T
Did you go to the Silverstone Classic this year? I missed it for the first time in ages. By many accounts, I didn't miss much.
- Weather Fri/Sun was awful, but this is the UK
- Some of the grids were pretty lacklustre compared to last year - Gp C was a let-down, super-touring guys played it safe with the weather, 3 different races had E-Types in
- Car clubs weren't as good as prior years - lot more 'ordinary' cars on car club stands, esp. BMW. And Porsche Club GB had fewer classics than before too...
I thought Saturday was a good day overall, and I liked the pre-war race as a new addition. But it wasn't up to the quality overall of the last few years, and the buses were crap again and the food had gone up in price and down a little in quality. Still good, but not great...
I DID like the Ultima stand near us though - 3 cars on Sat in the sun, 18 (!!!) on Sunday in the rain!

I fear you missed my joke. The Life Guards wear red tunics and have white sheepskins on their saddles and a white plume.
But yes, I know how to shine, polish and buff for England.
And put up a good fence.
