Is that the Meteor which remained airborne for twelve hours thanks to refuelling tankers?Cobham (FRA Ltd) were heavily involved in the development of in flight refuelling, and were pushing it for civilian airliners in the early 1950s... http://www.aviationancestry.com/Components/RoleEqu...
Then
Not so much a 'fantastic moment', but a very fortuitous posting for the BBMF's very own PA474, which was used to test new wing technology into the 1960s at Cranwell.
Were it not for the fact that it was maintained as a flying test-bed, PA474 would very likely have suffered the same fate as the rest of the Lancaster fleet, at the hands of the scrap-man.

On the Guy Martin Vulcan program on Sunday the Vulcan pilot who flew to the Falklands said that getting the nose in to the basket was akin to threading wet spaghetti up a cat's bottom.
FTFYA well known comparison that appeared in the Vulcan 607 book iirc.
