I thought that the last Tiger was at Bovington?
It's not the last Tiger, but it's the only one left that runs and drives. Tiger 131, star of a Hollywood movie called 'Fury' along with some actor bloke whose name I can't recall. This is the damage caused by the round that ended Tiger 131's career...
...a solid shot fired by a Churchill tank of 48RTR grazed the underside of the barrel and wedged itself in the turret ring. This disabled the turret traverse, and two further hits damaged elevation gear, the radio, and the loader's hatch, injuring some of the crew. On abandoning the tank the crew failed to destroy it as per their standing orders, and 131 was the first intact Tiger tank captured by the Allied forces. It was repaired using parts salvaged from other captured vehicles, before eventually being brought back to the UK to be studied.
I bloody love Bovington. I'd volunteer there if I lived closer (and they had some modern Armoured Engineer kit that needed care and attention lavishing on it).

TBF I knew that the Tiger @ Bovington only the last one running (at this time, IIRC other places are working on them & the Panther) and not the last one anywhere. Should have made that point
Wasn't meant as a dig! You mentioned it and I got all excited because I was there very recently, on a week day. No school parties booked in, so just some Septics dressed up in paramilitary gear with big cameras, the guides, and me and the wife in the whole place. One of the ex-RE volunteers was there too, so we had a chat. Someone (Tank Museum staff) had a professional lighting rig set up to take shots of the L60 engine beside one of the Chieftains too. Nice to see an L60 clean and clear, and the right way up. I spent too many hours being dangled by my ankles into a cramped, smelly engine compartment, dropping spanners into the murky sludge in the bottom of the hull to love Chieftain, but I've got a bit of a secret soft spot for them.I just took it as an opportunity, as a punter, to publicise the Tank Museum. Especially as they let you pay once, and come back as many times as you like for a year!
