When I go on holiday I take a backpack with the tripod, flash, batteries and other crap but usually only walk around with this:

I took my SLR and three lenses on holiday back in the late 80s. I only ever used the fixed focal length 80mm. My wife now checks my camera bag before holidays to ensure I don't take too much weight.

I never had any problems with either using 5D and 1D. IMO pro bodies are actually better at shooting things like that because of ease of adjusting things.

As for RX100 being as good as 5D MK3 in low light AF - it also depends what lens are you using.

It wasn't any technical issue that prevented the candid pics it was the great big lump of camera that you have around your neck so that everyone thinks you're on assignment for national geographic wink

My 5d walkabout is 24-70 f2.8 II........I find the Rx100's focus peaking superb in tough conditions
