Just too update the thread , I have just ordered a
Canon EOS 60D 18MP Digital SLR With EF S 17 85mm USM Lens.
Picked it up with 1 yr guarantee for £ 455 from Tesco Outlet store.
Any suggestions for what memory cards would be best , or are they all the same ?

Pick up a couple of these and you'll be all set. They always give the advertised speed unlike some other cards. Make sure you buy from amazon and NOT a marketplace seller.
you won't be disappointed, I love my 60d and wouldn't be without it now, the LCD top screen is invaluable.
I have a few Sandisk 16gb and a 32Gb ultra and extreme cards from Amazon. Keep an eye on the prices as they fluctuate a lot and buy when they're cheap(around £10 for 16gb). The 16GB cards give you about 600 full size RAW pictures, or over 2000 full size Jpegs or around 470 of both, so you shouldn't need to worry about space.
I would suggest a USB3.0 card reader if your PC has the capability, it makes it so, so much faster to transfer files than just connecting the USB to the camera, each full size RAW picture is between 20mb and 30mb.
