Got a large Crumpler bag that I stow all of my bits and pieces in but I really need to find a smaller bag that I can just chuck my current 400D, with battery grip, and macro lens into.

Generally have the 50mm 1.8 fitted but will be upgrading the body to a 6D soon and need it to be able to accommodate the larger lens and body on occasions.

Don't really want to spend more than £50 unless I have to. Answers on a postcard please. smile

Must be waterproof!

100mm L or none L? Small difference in size.

No bag had good weather sealing. As best they will survive moderate rain. If you want something good then Lowepro are decent for the money. Are you not planning on carrying the 50mm anymore?

Was wondering about this one: http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/pro...

Or this one: http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/pro...

The primary purpose of the bag is so that I can throw in a camera and single lens so that I can carry it around all day while working. My Crumpler bag is just too big to carry around unless I'm specifically going out to take photos.

The 100mm is the non-L type unfortunately. In all likelihood the nifty fifty is probably going to be the lens I'll use day to day, but I want the bag to be big enough so that when I upgrade to a 6D I can still use it, with the largest lens I have which is currently the 100mm prime. If there's enough space to chuck in my little EX270 too then it would be a bonus.

P.S. I know Jessops isn't the greatest camera accessory shop but I had to start looking somewhere!

I wouldn't get that.

Without wishing to pry it would help to know what your work is. There are some very nice smart looking bags that a doctor could carry (but they are more than £50). Basically what does it need to look like, and what does it need to do.

What other lenses have you got? What accessories have you got? Do you need a tripod?

Also I can only really recommend bags I have got or have used. Best bet is to go into a shop and play with them. Oh and then go online and get them cheaper.

Field Services Engineer across the City. Travel light with a small backpack for all my IT crap, but it's a squeeze cramming my 400D and 50mm into it, never mind the impractical nature of lugging my Crumpler bag along instead just on the off-chance of a photo op.

Want a small shoulder bag I can slip my camera into and carry around daily instead. Ideally one that's big enough for the 6D, which I suspect is a little larger than my 400D, even with the battery grip, and a single large lens. Space for a small flash would be a bonus.

Looking around waterproof does appear to be asking too much but a little water resistance is definitely required as I'm often out and about on foot in the West End or City when it starts raining.

Don't know how much IT stuff you have to carry but I'd consider a proper camera bag with room for a laptop and Ipad etc... But then I don't know your job.

This is propably what I'd go for http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lowepro-Event-Messenger-Ca... but then I'd just carry a black bag to stick over it.

Honestly I've had "waterproof" bags and inside after a downpour all my stuff is wet. A 6d does have some weatherproofing. If you have seen the conditions I've put both my 1 series bodies through and also my 5d iii then you would realise they are pretty tough.

Put it this way - your phone isn't weather sealed at all, and you don't carry that around in waterproof trousers.

Cheers but that's way too big. It's almost the same size as the Crumpler bag I have.

Backpack is a tiny 10l Karrimor that holds a handful of USB sticks, a network cable, micro-usb cable and my work MBA, that's all.

What I really want is the smallest shoulder carry bag that I can squeeze just a 6D and medium lens into really, nothing more.

Fair point about waterproofing, though my backpack copes surprisingly well in the odd downpour.

I use a Lowepro Toploader 70 AW. It's a very handy size and I can take it anywhere. Quality is brilliant as you would expect from Lowepro. There are smaller sizes available which may be what you need.

Looks like a pretty good bag. Maybe ever so slightly larger than I need, and certainly a little dearer.

Off to Jessops to take a look at the £35 one I quoted earlier. It's less than half the price so worth a quick look I reckon.

Maybe a little bit more than you want to spend but I can recommend the Billingham Hadley Digital, as a small throw over your shoulder, and not worry about rain, type bag.

Very well made. Maybe you can keep a lookout for a used one on ebay.

Mine has been out in several heavy showers and always remained dry on the inside.

Cheers for the suggestions.

Just picked up a slightly smaller one from Jessops. Will take it home tonight and see if my current camera fits. If not, they said just take it back.

They had the Lowepro one mentioned above but it's a bit bigger than I'm after unfortunately. They didn't appear to do a model in-between either.

400d with grip will be slightly taller. However 6d will be a lot wider and fatter.

Cheers. If it's a snug fit for my existing camera I may just take it back and get the Lowepro instead anyway.

Didn't want to spend £80 on another bag but if I need to I will.

Look on Amazon - I've got some amazing deals from either there own warehouse deals part or third party sellers for bags before. Beware there are a few knock off branded bags around - however you would know pretty quickly by comparing it to the real deal in a shop.

Billingham looks the bees knees, and they do last. However to me they are overpriced and you are paying for the name. It's a bit like having a rolex. If thats your thing then fair enough. It certainly isn't mine.

Lowepro are pretty good though. Shouldn't say this - but the knock off sling shot bags really arn't that bad. I wouldn't have one because they arn't big enough for me, however I've seen them and felt them and they do the job for a third of the money.

My daily camera bag is an FStop Shibata, possibly a bit bigger than you need but looks more like a normal bag than a camera bag. In your situation, my preference would be a work bag with room for your camera in.

Well surprise surprise the cheap bag was too snug a fit for my 400D and battery grip so I just went back and swapped it for a Lowepro Toploader Pro 70 AW instead. £80 but a much better fit with even enough space left over for a few little bits and pieces, including my EX270.

They even popped on the 100mm lens onto my 400D from stock so that I could test it out fully.

The gent in the shop assured me that the same case will also fit a 6D, albeit without a grip, when I finally get around to upgrading.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. smile

My 5D mkIII with a grip fits easily in my Lowepro, so I can't see why 6D with a grip shouldn't fit?

Well with a bit of luck it will.

Just got to save up for one now...
