No Canon 7D2 thread?

Well, no one else is going to do it, so I will!
Canon have finally announced the replacement for the 7D, and with 10fps, a much improved focus system and supposedly better high ISO (over the 7D) It's looking mighty tempting. Lower RRP than I thought it would be too.

. It certainly sounds impressive.
Unless you are a really hardcore sports shooter, I don't see the point of it really.
I suspect many buyers don't really need 10fps with amazingly complex AF to take pictures of their mum or kids at Disneyland.
For most people, a 70d and better glass would be a much more logical choice.

is there a reason why they haven't added the articulated screen to the 7dII? I get maybe not having the touch screen but the swivel screen on the 60d is really handy especially for shooting video and not getting nose prints all over the screen.
Also is it just me who thinks that the photo they've used to advertise the HDR actually looks better with the HDR off?

I'm looking to upgrade my ageing micro four-thirds setup and the 7D2 is a big contender as I've found myself using my camera more when I go out to nature reserves at the weekend than anything else. I'm just not sure about the size compared to what I'm used to so I've just borrowed my brother's 5D2 with his 100-400 and 70-200 to see how I get on with it. Also in contention are the E-M1, X-T1, NX1 & A7 but liking the spec of this 7D2. Main negatives (to me at least) seem to be no wifi, no 4K and no touch-screen control.

It does exist in their range....you just have to spend a lot of cash!I personally have no interest in 4k, but I can see why people might be peeved if they want to shoot video. There seem to be a few csc bodies that offer it.

I'm not one to swap camera equipment regularly (my current kit is over 4 years old) so, whilst I haven't got a 4K TV and probably no big use for it at the moment, I'd like to have it for the future. Also, I quite fancy messing on with capturing stills from the 4K video as the fast frame rate should (in theory) help with capturing interesting shots that you might miss with the usual AF-C. You can increase the shutter speeds to help with this which screws up with how the video looks but if you're after stills that doesn't matter. Obviously focusing is going to be difficult but I've seen some decent results from the GH4 (easily googled).
I'm probably going to get shot down in flames now which is usually what happens when I try post anything half-technical in this section of PH

The Panasonic GH4 can take stills from 4k video. They are only about 8mp I think equivalent, but that is plenty for a decent print or viewing on an iPad and they look clean and colourful. It is an interesting development and surely the future of photography. Canon could do it but they choose not to, which I think is a shame.
It isn't hard to imagine a time where 10 fps on a 7D2 is irrelevant and all you need to do is shoot live video and pick the stills you want from a video. This is probably only a few years away.

Robustness mainly. The 70D is the one designed for video and pro-sumer use, the 7D is much more action/sports orientated and a flippy screen would have made it less suitable for that.That's the reason I've heard anyway!
