Hi,

Im wondering if anyone can help?

I am working on a project at the moment, and ideally I want to use a moveable length tube. My thoughts were to use a camera lens body, and wondered if such a thing exists that effectively has some sort of built in motor that would adjust the length of the body if I was to control it myself.

Does that make sense? If there is a UK company that makes these so I just need to buy the body and not the lenses etc.

Many thanks

Depends what size do you need. In theory compact and bridge cameras should be useful for you.

If I interpret his question correctly - ie he wants a 'body' of a lens not a camera body - he'd need to hacksaw off the (camera) body to get the (lens) body, and then smash out all the lens elements to get the extending tube he needs...

Yes it is just the lens body I need. Or something else, but it needs to be motorised in some form or another. I want to use it as an air pipe, so don't need the actual lens in there.

I don't think anything from the world of photography is going to do that; it sounds more like an engineering project to me.

Quite a few motorbikes have variable length intakes inside the air box, is that more the sort of thing you're looking for?

Yes...Out of curiosity do you know which bikes?

Looks like the Yamahas are the best bet.
