Compact System or Compact?
Discussion
Ok, so my daughter would like a new camera. She is doing GCSE photography so something reasonably capable but also teenager resistant is required.
We have an SLR already which she has been using (and can continue to use), but I'd rather she didn't take that out and about with her friends/on hols etc as I fear for it's safe return
I've been reading rave reviews of the Sony RX-100 - think we'd be looking at the MK1 or MK2.
However, my sister in law has a samsung compact system camera thing which is my daughters current favourite as it has detachable lenses and is er white.
Any thoughts on which one would be more suitable? Thanks!

Yep, the RX100 gets rave reviews everywhere you go. By all accounts it is a great camera.
I accidentally ended up with a Canon EOS M a few months ago and fully expected to sell it on however I've been really pleased with it. Argos are doing the kit (In white if required) for £199 at the moment and it's a really nice bit of kit in my opinion.
It's got the interchangeable lenses and the 22mm f2 lens that can be had off eBay for around £70-£80 new is superbly sharp.

I'd think she'd do well with either. I own both so my opinion would be that knowing what teenagers are like for looking after stuff that the RX100 would be the 'safer' bet. Picture quality wise they are pretty much on a par, both have full manual control so are great for learning photography.
