A good lens (the 200mm is VERY good) is never a waste...but you may find it doesn't balance well on your 1200d....maybe think about the 70-200 mm f4 or the 70-300mm...both image stabilised, both v sharp'Nd relatively light in weight
I'd take the 55-250mm personally, as a first step at least.B16JUS said:
Hi Guys
Im looking for a longer lens and was thinking about a 200mm canon L lens but is it a waste being used on my 1200d ?
Or any other options people can recomend ?
Main use for car on track etc

I have the 200mm f2.8 'L' and it's an excellent lens, unfortunately it's not really long enough on a full frame camera for motorsport, so I also had to buy a 400mm f5.6 'L' too Im looking for a longer lens and was thinking about a 200mm canon L lens but is it a waste being used on my 1200d ?

200mm on a 1.4 crop sensor equals 280mm, so possibly long enough for your use...
