I can only echo what has been said about the quality and diversity of work in this thread. Here is my humble effort.

Been a weird year for me, crammed loads of events in early, then had a kid in September so my 'public' shots have dropped right off. Shot my first wedding though, which was a wonderful experience...

^^^Great work already, never know how to pick my top 5, I'd probably struggle if it was the top 55.

Here's a few I enjoy looking back at:

from a load I took down at Newhaven at the beginning of the year, not the most faved out of the bunch on flickr but probably my favourite due to the gull against the wave.

one that in my opinion does a gorgeous aircraft justice, though I'm not sure its a wise idea posting aircraft in a thread already graced by Lloyd.

I love these but I don't know why! The ones with the cars right at the edge are fab but they seem like they shouldn't work. Help?

Outstanding work from everyone so far, it's been mentioned before but there really is an amazing amount of talented photographers lurking around this backwater.

2014 has been a bit of an odd year for me, I've taken far fewer photographs this year but have had far more photography work. I've also taken some of my favourite photos so far this year.

In chronological order:

1. This is probably my favourite photo ever (or at least my favourite that doesn't have my daughter in it). It's everything I wanted from the photo when I was taking it.

2. From one of two weddings I shot this year, neither as the main shooter but as a capable friend. Another shot that came out as planned with just the right balance between flash and ambient lighting, capturing one of the brides best friends in party mode.

3. This one came about as very happy accident. On the way back from a family day out we decided to stop off to see the sun set at Ogmore Castle, somewhere my wife had previously visited. Just before the sun went down a herd of horses walked from their stables back to the fields, seemingly of their own accord. Cue a quick dash across the stepping stones to grab the shot. The actual sunset ended up rubbish.

4. A visit to the beautiful Batsford Arboretum to see the autumn display of maples and just as we walked past the house a heavy rain cloud blew over. About a minute after this shot we got absolutely poured on.

5. Finally my favourite shot from a recent project for my local pub. They will shortly be appearing on a new BBC2 series and as part of a revamp wanted to get some photos of the local produce and suppliers that they use. This shot just makes my mouth water.

If that's where I think it is I dropped my 5d in the river there trying to get a long exposure from outside the waterfall. It went lens first into the rocks and filled with water. The viewfinder looked like a spirit level. It took two weeks but it dried out and works perfectly again - tough little devil, that camera.

We should start another thread where we pick our top 5 of other PHers' work.
