I'm sold on getting one especially as my current compact is showings it's age (I could just spend 10 quid on a new battery but man maths is working wonders)

Given the potential shutter issues I'd want to buy from somewhere decent. Seen them close to £500 or less but often shipping from overseas. Any thoughts on these companies
Or buy from someone like digitalrev and get near HK prices with decent support. For me the viewfinder is key so mk3 easy worth the extra.

£519 at Digital Rev at the moment, which is very good compared to most other UK suppliers.

They aren't particularly competitive with the Panasonic LX100 at the moment though.

I've spent hours researching this and have come to the conclusion that it's the camera for me.
I was also looking at the RX100 M3 and the Panny LX100.

However - the A7000 is expected to be released this summer so I may have to wait!!

After the two back to back failures with the RX3 I lost faith and managed a late bid on a two week old A6000 with the cheaper kit lens (16-50mm) saving around £150😃

Haven't done much with it yet but I like it. Bigger than the RX but not large so easily carried and generally nice to use, with quick settings. The only snag so far was trying to zoom when in manual focus mode.

Excellent. Out of interest what price did you pay? I've found you can get this online for around £470 now, including the 16-50 kit lens.

It would be great if you could start a thread on the A6000!

I got it for £415, so not quite the bargain I'd thought, but not bad. It was c.2 weeks old with a low shutter count and seems to work fine.

I haven't had enough experience with it or enough pictures out of it to warrant a thread, but I like it. For my spade like hands it's easier to work with than the RX and I find the viewfinder easier to use, though I realise it won't be as easy to carry in a pocket, which I hardly do anyway. The 16-50 lens is pretty small though.

What I really like is the ability to use different lenses, I can't wait to try it with some Leica lenses and the Canon shift tilt ones. Means I can use it as a 2nd system/back up easily.

Have you seen the reviews of the 6000 and similar NEX cameras by Steve Huff and Ashwin Rao
