I think some photo's are like farts - whilst no-one else really appreciates them, you quite like your own.
Personally that photo doesn't do anything for me at all. But there are shots I've taken that I really like that other people just think, 'meh,' so I wouldn't worry about it, I think it happens to all of us.

Some people get rather "up themselves" when looking at other peoples photographs. My attitude is that if I like it, I like it. I don't have to ensure it is perfect for the rest of the world.
Having said that I don't understand a lot of photographs that get put on the internet that are out of focus or only show half a person.

I, for one, would like nothing more than to go on a rampage through the Tate Modern with a sledgehammer
Let me know when you decide to go, I'll bring a chainsawI had to record some music ... well something that sounded like an Ice Cream Van for someone who was doing an 'art installation'. It was taken to Shetland and played on a loop in a pig shed. Anyone that happened to wander past said pig shed would hear it and obviously think 'juxtaposition'.
She received a grant for this.

What really gets my goat is..."Untitled [insert number here]". I mean if you've got this bunch of crap together and you think it represents something, you could at least think of a title for the thing. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

I find there are some photos where its the association with a memory that I like rather than the image itself.
Agreed. Sometimes a very simple image just takes you back to the time it was shot and all those memories flood back. There are so many of our family pics that are technically bad, boring or just slightly out of focus (esp ones from film compacts back in the day) but just looking at them takes me back. Great things those little snaps. Not everything needs to be an amazing image, however much we strive for it. Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
