I'm a big fan of Adobe's new SAAS model, as it allows for rapid feature updates and bug fixes, plus it's cheap as chips given the functionality.

However, have you looked at Polarr as an alternative? Very slick - https://editor.polarr.co/

With this new Lightroom CC is the subscription the only option nowadays or can you just buy it outright like the good old days?

You can buy it outright, but you may not get all of the updates.

Buy it outright and you get updates for new camera raw formats etc but no new features like dehaze or stitching.

Along with my camera came a copy of Lightroom 6 (standalone). Is it possible to add dehaze as I think this would be an excellent feature for me.

Anybody know what the minium spec laptop you can use for the latest lightroom? Do you have to have an idependent graphics card?

I have a windows 7 laptop but its only an I3 with 4GB ram so i suspect not really man enough for the job.

I'm sure it will work even if a bit slower. I have no problems with using LR on my Macbook Air, even when editing hundreds of 25MB files.

One thing though - I uninstalled CC and went back to 5.7. It was much much slower so you might want to look into that.

Try here:

Free dehaze presets for LR6.1
I have not tried them as I only have LR5 at the moment so can't vouch but worth a look.

I had an email from Adobe the other day, it looks like they have dropped the price on the CC Photography membership until the 28th August, so if like me you haven't signed up yet it may be worth going for it this week.
