Thats a shockingly badly done article.
Why do you think so?Anyway, I'm happy - makes me happier about the decision to go for the Sony rather than the Canon! Tim Parkin is a long time user of Canons and has 'ins' with the brass in the UK division so I doubt there is any anti-Canon bias.In fact he did a review of it and mentioned snippets on the recent webcast and was very complimentary about it.
Though he does - sort of - explain why. Not sure I fully got it though. Mine seems to expose quite a lot brighter on auto (which I don't use too often) than the A7ii I had.
Overall it does look a good camera for anyone not already too invested in lenses etc. from Canon or Nikon or who doesn't need a full sized DSLR

That's great to hear, the 70-200 is on my list of things to purchase as well.

I've been using the 70-200 for a few weeks now, it really is brilliant. Sharp wide open, excellent OSS and nice fast AF. James

A very enthusiastic review from Michael Reichmann in Luminous Landscape here:
https://luminous-landscape.com/sony-a7rii-review-a...
He rates it pretty much as highly, in some ways superior, to his Pentax 645z.

So how are you guys getting on with the Sony?
Missus V8A*ndy has been a very decent lady of late and I am tempted to get her a new camera.
It would be a fair upgrade from her 550d mind....
She has the following items of glass.....
Tamron 24-70mm
Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 70-300mm
Would there be a good Sony item to add to this? thinking more for action shots and reliable AF.
She will probably just keep the 550d with the 50mm permanently on board. Just as well as I don't think that lens works too well with adapter.

The A7rii is astoundingly good. So good that I'm considering selling my Nikon D800e + assortment of excellent glass.Missus V8A*ndy has been a very decent lady of late and I am tempted to get her a new camera.

It would be a massive step up from the 550d (there's no comparison!). You may consider saving yourself a pile of £ and buy the Sony A7ii instead (I'll have one of those for sale soon too) which would still be a step up IMO.
As for lenses, the Sony Zeiss lenses are a thing of beauty and are rated as some of the best lenses available on the market, see: http://www.dxomark.com/lenses
The 55mm f1.8 is better than any 50mm Canon produce. They offer a 24-70 f4 and I'm not sure about the 70-300 range.
Probably just me and my struggles to transition from film and issues with (my) colour photography, but I don't find it as enjoyable to use, or as a 'thing', as my Leica... yet, there is no denying the quality. The resolution is something else (moving from A7ii) and the colour seems better to me than the previous camera(s). The main benefit for me is that - admittedly, having had to rush around snapping what I could/when I could this summer - when I haven't been able to get close enough to focus on the areas I want or to clear clutter - is the ability to crop, drastically, and still have sharp images.
I need to slow down, plan more and work like I used to and to that intent I've just bought the Cambo Actus quasi-view camera attachment and reckon the 7R will let me mimic a digital back at way less cost and without too much of a penalty quality wise. In the meantime the 70 - 200mm lens seems very good to me and the 16-35mm is awesome. The resistance to flare for a lens so wide and with such a big front element is beyond my previous lenses.

I'd certainly entertain a 35mm in the future or if a faster 24-70 came along and sell the Tamron.
I'm just concerned that the wife would become frustrated with focusing problems and slow progress when shooting when using an adapter.
Our local camera shop hasn't got stock yet (I'm in NI so really only have Jessops) for a play around with one.
I am very interested in one of these though as I could have some uses myself for the video side of things.
Sony are going to offer a firmware update to allow the 7Rii to use uncompressed RAW files, fwiw.

I've mentioned on another thread af issues with my A7Rii which the dealer thinks is faulty, so it's off to the... wherever and for how long next week. Just to help me get some info./ammo for any forthcoming debate does anyone else find that the lenses wobble in the mount?
I had this on the A6000 and had read of weak mounts but that the 7 was meant to be more robust and precise. Most of my lenses have been used with adaptors so when I experienced this again I blamed them. But I now realise that this is still quite obvious with both the 70-200 and 16-35 Sony lenses. If I grip the barrel and turn it slightly the lens feels and wobbles in the bayonet. I'd thought this was the tripod ring on the zoom, however much I tightened/checked it, and am aware of this just carrying, lifting or framing pictures with it, but find it happens with the other too if I try to wobble it, and without much force.
So, the question is, am I just unlucky or is this a common or down issue? Cheers.
