I am guessing the AF issues are because it isnt getting good optical input.

Unless it does it with other lenses as well. But even then it's hardly an AF issue unless you are looking at critical focus on that side of the image.

You could try Manual Focus instead to prove the point.

If the problem is worse at large apertures (3.5) than small (14), and worse close up than far away, it could be field curvature, a basic design issue - a cheap lens (which this unfortunately is) will likely have a more curved focus field than an expensive one.

That is still very decentred

Just for reference, here is a corner shot from a Nikon V1 J4 Mirrorless, with the kit 10-30 lens.



I am guessing my chart is fair bit sharper as I tiled it over 4 pages, but it gives you an idea.
