"Best" zoom lens for Sony A7
Discussion
After reading contradictory reviews, and given how popular the A7 models are here, I wonder if anyone has advice on a 'carry round' / quick response type lens. So far I've only used fixed focus (except for the 16-18-21mm WATE) manual focus lenses and prefer to work that way when time allows, but realise that a zoom and auto focus would be useful from time to time.
I'm covered from 16 to 21mm, then 50mm, 75mm, 90mm, 180mm (though that is for sale) and 600mm, plus macro with a bellows/100mm macro lens system, so think a medium or medium to longer telephoto would be sensible, perhaps c. 28mm to 80mm it or 70mm to 200mm?
Are there any lenses you really rate, or lemons I should avoid?

I have the FE 24-70mm f4 ZA OSS Vario-Tessar Carl Zeiss and the FE70-200mm f4 G OSS, both are excellent.

I took your advice, well half of it, and have ordered the 70-200mm OSS lens. For shorter work I managed to get a mint Leica R 35-70mm really cheaply from a Leica dealer. It is manual only, no IS (but the Sony has the in body system) and only f3.5 but, as per the excellent review of it, seems ultra sharp. A brilliant buy.
I would have gone for the 'legendary' f2.8 version, but then looked on line and found them around $14000 to $16000 or more!
