With the phone connected controllers, do you need a sim card? Or is it connected purely by bluetooth?. I was wondering if I bought one, could I use an older phone, purely as a screen, so I can keep my actual phone separate and in my pocket?
DJI Mini 2 connects to the phone over a USB C cable. You don't need internet connection, only to activate or unlock geozones. I never knew this thread existed!

I've done 2x US road trips this year, driving around 7,500 miles across 15 states.
I didn't use the drone too much, but will upload some below.
The drone used was a DJI Mini 3 Pro
The images are obviously highly compressed and not the same quality as the originals.
Would love some feedback on how I can make these better, I really struggle with city shots.

I like these threads but they really don't help my drone buying decision making.
I was going cheaper, but seeing photos and then youtube videos of the mini pro series drones makes me want to totally blow my budget.
Same here, I’m thinking of selling a couple of L series lens that gets very little use and upping the budget.I was going cheaper, but seeing photos and then youtube videos of the mini pro series drones makes me want to totally blow my budget.
Noticed yesterday we had some rare high pressure with little wind on the UAV Forecast app so took my drone out to the park to try and work out what was going on with some engineering works in the right hand corner.
Only realised afterwards when looking at the photo on the PC rather than at the time on the phone screen that you could see the skyscrapers of London in the background
Taken on a Mavic Mini 1 in JPEG format in low light (was around 3pm) with a CPL filter, I've been meaning to upgrade for a while but it still does the job pretty well, would like optical zoom but I don't think any sub 250g drones have that?
Slightly off topic but noticed there's now a hard cap height restriction in the latest DJI software of 120 meters, previously I think it was 400?

I've seen videos where the operator has removed, or increased the 120m height restriction using a slider in the settings menu, so I think you can manually bypass it?Only realised afterwards when looking at the photo on the PC rather than at the time on the phone screen that you could see the skyscrapers of London in the background

It's 400 feet which by a bit of random magic, happens to be 120 mts.Only realised afterwards when looking at the photo on the PC rather than at the time on the phone screen that you could see the skyscrapers of London in the background

Nordboy - yes you can bypass it if you want to but if you get caught bypassing the settings, rest assured you will be in BIG trouble.
But just remember, it's 120 mts from the ground you are standing on, so if like GetCarter you live in Northern Scotland and are standing on a mountain, then it's 120 mts from that. This does not include buildings though, so you wouldn't be able to climb up to the top of The Shard say and then fly up to 120mts

and yup 400 feet or 120m, but remember that in the rules - you're supposed to keep it in visual sight the whole time. Mines tiny, hence the strobe I fitted to help keep an eye on it. Even at 60m and a little away from you it can be hard to spot
Same here and with the new rules coming in, we will have to retro fit a remote id module which depending upon the module you choose, will push it over 250grams in weight anyway.and yup 400 feet or 120m, but remember that in the rules - you're supposed to keep it in visual sight the whole time. I don't think any jurisdiction is planning mandatory RID under 0.55lb / 250g. You sound as though you have different information ?mikef said:
