It looks like we were a week out with the weather this spring smile Sandwood Bay will have to wait until next time. Still, there were breaks in the wind and rain. biggrin

A mate has just started a yacht charter biz up here and wanted a publicity shot from the drone. No pressure then! I was about 400 yards away for this - really paranoid about hitting the bloody boat!

Still - pleased/relieved.

No... I was bloody miles away on the shore. They couldn't get it too close to land for fear of grounding.

I've done that with a car, but cars stop easily and yachts don't!

ATTI mode would work and as long as you place the Phantom in the right place for breeze to take it, you should be able to concentrate on getting the shot.

Another one over the water. I spotted a route I could fly through it, but I'm not that brave!

Out of interest, what is everyone flying? For comparison, I took this today

Hubsan H107C - 2Mp camera!

It's not bad to fly, but the wind and it's own mood can take it in any direction, all movement translates back to the camera and the exposure is all over the place.

On the plus side, it cost £40, though the spare motors and blades have probably doubled that biggrin
I've found something similar with my Hubsan H107D, the yaw has a mind of it's own like it's following Lay Lines or something! I've now also got a JJRC H6D which is a lot more stable and has a better camera. Not nearly as good for FPV as the Hubsan though, but good for taking on trips for opportunistic flights rather than planned ones.

Just out of interest, what's the law on overflying other people's property?

I had a pool party last weekend for my 11 year old daughter and 15 friends and there was a drone sort of over head for 10 mins. I didn't give it a second thought but should I have what would Ido?

Coincidence, nothing, ignore etc? But if I thought dodgy what's the recourse?

Not allowed within 50m if it has a camera. There's more to it than that but quite a few variables.

This seemed cool overheadish. And didn't look 50mtrs up but had to tell. If breaking rules who do you speak to?

I could have knocked it out with a Baretta over and under ( cough - should I have 2) but suspect I'd end up in prison,

But this feels like a licence to snoop/video with no recourse.

I'm

A) intellectually intrigued how this is policed
B) a bit miffed at some potentially videoing my garden

However, If you watch most stuff on TV with drones, you'll see them flying over city centres etc :S

If you have a permission for aerial work (commercial work) from the CAA then you can legally do some stuff a private individual can't so long as you have the right permissions and 'crowd control'. There are still some absolute restrictions around flying over large crowds e.g. festival or football matches. There also weight related rules.
https://www.caa.co.uk/Consumers/Model-aircraft-and...
Policing is as you can imagine, low priority for the BIB but they do have powers. Similarly the CAA do review youtube etc for videos containing breaches but a warning is always the 1st step and again they haven't the resources to view all of them.

One thing I would say about drones over your garden is that they mostly have wide angle lenses, so they won't show much if any detail of people.
