Picked up a Phantom 3 Advanced a few days, first flight and first crash was quite impressive ...
It takes videos fine but when i go to take a photo it takes me to a blank screen and doesn't seem to do much - anyone have any ideas?
What device are you using to run the DJI Go app?It takes videos fine but when i go to take a photo it takes me to a blank screen and doesn't seem to do much - anyone have any ideas?
Do you get the same result whether you take the photo from the app or the shoulder button?
I do find when taking a photo and using the HDMI port at the same time the HDMI goes blank for a few seconds - that's running on an iPad mini. Since I'm generally stationary for the shot it's not a problem.
Stupid question, but have you tapped on the 'x'?
There are lots of black screens you can 'x out of'
Moving from video to photo mode should just give a momentary back screen, then go back to camera's view.
ETA... Update firmware? Youtube and DJI have vids on how to do that.

Yeah the X takes me back to the home screen as such, the view from the camera. There is no photo taken though. There are lots of black screens you can 'x out of'

Firmware was all updated before my first flight using a youtube video. As i really got it for the photo's I am a bit miffed, just haven't got much free time at the moment to get out with it.
I've copy and pasted this from the DJI owners club, and hoping someone can help...
I have had another couple of flights under my belt now and really enjoying it. Bought it primarily to expand my photography hobby. I am mainly using my P3S for photos rather than videos, and seem to be finding the pictures are a bit 'grainy' or noisy. Is there something I am missing, or am I maybe expecting too much from the camera? I am shooting in JPEG+RAW and edit the RAW file in Photoshop and saving as a new JPEG. I've attached a couple of pictures as an example.
Other pictures I have seen on this page are brilliant!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Do you have Lightroom as well as Photoshop? I find Lightroom gives better results. (I use both). It has a noise reduction slider 'luminance' which is really good at 'de-noising' grainy photos.
The camera has it's limitations especially on dull days (like it was by Jo's cafe yesterday). If you are auto ISO it bumps it up creating more grain. You'll see (above) that I tend to go out in sunny weather!
The Phantom 4 is supposed to be considerably better in low light.
I hope you had one of Jo's scones

Auto everything just now, I'm quite happy being in manual on my SLR, but not quite there yet with the Phantom! I'll have another go today and play about a bit more. We didn't get into Jo's, being honest I didn't actually realise it was there!

Great pic.....Really itching to upgrade the Phantom 2 now.
I think this is the best I'm going to get out of the gopro as I can't change things once it's up there and I can't use 4k as the legs get in the way . looks like my props need balanced to.
