I've lost a couple of micro drones myself. Even my much bigger Vortex I've spent many hours trying to find. Even with the micro quads you can sometimes find them by getting a bearing on the video signal through shielding the antenna. That and try revving the motors and listening out for it.
I spent over an hour walking round a building site trying to work out where the Wi-Fi got stronger, to no avail. When it finally died, 550mAH battery, so very short life, I had to call it really. The motors had tripped out. I'll probably revisit when funds allow in a couple of years.

Also, thanks Mr Dobbler

For bigger things like phantoms and 250s that can carry them those little GPS trackers off of ebay aren't a bad idea. You can send a text message and it will text back its coordinates. Quite a few give you a year's free data too so you can track it on google maps

Does my phantom 4 text me coordinates? And how?

Sorry just realised how poorly I'd written that! Its not a built in thing its a standalone tracker you can buy like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-GPS-Tracker-Magn...

Ah, ok! To be fair you did say eBay, my bad too!

Might be worth checking out, although I don't intend to lose my P4 biggrin

Trying to figure out how one would attach this to a drone?

I'd gaffer it to the top of the bit of the battery that sticks out. Won't affect speed, balance or handling. Having said that 90% of my time is flying over water, so I'm fked anyway!

Not any sort of great photo, but I know quite a few have been here (Applecross - with it's famous Inn)

Nicer weather here this evening;

It should track it's position in the Go App map view. You can swap the camera view and map view to full screen. And if your tablet has internet connectivity the map background will help you tell where it is. Obviously if it loses connection and flies away or goes down while returning to home then it wouldn't be updating. I've not bothered with any lost drone tech for my Phantom as it reliably comes back.

On my Vortex I've got an extra loud beeper fitted which makes it much easier to find in the long grass. It cost about £3 and plugs into a spare channel on the receiver.

I've tried a radio tracking device designed for cat collars, but it's never proved effective in the field.

Here are a few more from me, nothing fancy, just trying to get more practice in.

Worryingly my P3S has been getting a few 'No Signal' faults recently, and doing a bit of digging through the forums it looks like it is since the latest firmware update. Today I decided to downgrade stand have had a good hour of flying since without any issue. Hopefully its a firmware issue.

I like the ascending turning shot at about 20secs in. Not something I've seen before and a good way to transition from low level to high level while doing a bit of a panorama.

I notice the horizon is not very horizontal - something the Phantom should take care of but I've found it sometimes needs the gimbal tweeked in the DJI Go App.

Thanks! I'm just happy I did it so smooth!

How do I tweek the gimble?

There is a setting within the DJI app to adjust the gimbal. Worth doing when it's Level and pointing at something straight obviously

There is a great competition going on just now on the DJI Facebook page. Some outstanding sunset shots being taken

Lovely evening last night. I am loving the drone, but it's only downside is its low light performance (bit like my phone camera) brilliant if there is plenty light, but noisy when it is darker. Still...
