I've been asked to advise on a flashgun for a friend, who has a D5200 and getting to grips with it well. Currently his wife has shortlisted the Nikon SB-300 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ECGXAA0/ref=sr_ob_8?...

This seems quite cute but lacks grunt, AF illumination and other options that the larger flashguns have (which I think he'd enjoy experimenting with as he's a gadget man). Unfortunately the bigger Nikon Speedlights are over budget, and second-hand isn't really an option for a gift.

So we looked at compatibles, such as the Yongnuo 568, which I've seen mentioned many times here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yongnuo-YN-568EX-Flash-Spe...

However I'm not sure if this will do TTL with the 5200 - the advert says: 'Nikon: Camera with CLS i-TTL system: D3x, D3s, D3, D2x, D700, D300s, D300, D200, D7000, D90, D80' - can anyone advise?

Then I found the Mcoplus MK910... never heard of it before but it seems like a heck of a beast for the money: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mcoplus-MK910-Speedlite-re...

And then another stranger, the Neewer VK750II: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer-VK750II-i-TTL-Delux...

Lots of toys with that one!

So... to get him a decently specified flashgun with some clout and some future-proofing options for under £100, which one does the panel think would suit best? Or will they just go bang in a shower of sparks after 3 days? (I guess the Amazon guarantee would help there!)

Thanks all.

Expect about half the advertised GN with the 3rd party options, but they can do normal TTL on a hotshoe or cable.
