Damaged photos help

I hope someone can help, I had some photos on my back seat and also a bottle of engine oil which I threw on their in a rush and when I got the photos out they were soaked in oil, I wiped them down the best I could but most have oil soaked into the back around the edges, how can I repair this ?

What kind of photos were they? Are they ones printed from a digital camera, ones from negatives, or much older irreplaceable ones without negatives?
